10 things that make Shauna Niequist happy
Sunday, May 3, 2009
Who: Shauna Niequist
Where: Chicago
What: lover of food & words. Author of Cold Tangerines.

1. Champagne of any kind, but if I'm really lucky, Veuve Clicquot.

2. Hemingway's A Moveable Feast. I reread it every few months, and give it away constantly.

3. Hunter boots, in green. Aaron bought them for me for Christmas, and I think I wore them every single day till the weather turned. Which was like yesterday.

4. Hanna Anderson striped pajamas on my son.

5. Anne Lamott's Traveling Mercies. It opened me up, stitched me back together, allowed me to believe things I had long been resisting. It is not an overstatement in any way to say that, as a writer, as a woman, and as a Christian, this book changed everything. I reread it again this winter, and it is just as lovely and astounding as it was ten years ago.

6. Red Le Creuset cookware, especially the wide, round, Dutch Oven and the tomato-shaped pot.

7. Von Zipper's Dharma sunglasses, in all black.

8. Pottery Barn's Espresso and Cream Zebra Rug. I've wanted it for years, and it was first big purchase for our new house. I love it.

9. My dining room table: Crate and Barrel's Basque table, the very biggest one. It seats 10 with no problem and 14 if we snuggle, and it makes me endlessly happy.

10. Shirts with black and white horizontal stripes. And dresses, for that matter. Can't get enough of them.

just love these interviews. I'm adding A MOVEABLE FEAST to my to-read list.
I love your list, you make me smile. =)
I too love stripes. That dining table is just perfect for get together's.
Ah yes...I can see why they make you happy.
lovely list. . . time to do some striped pajama and book shopping.
I love everything on this list, but it was Cold Tangerines that caught my eye. My dear friend, Vonda, recommended the book to me. After some great laughs and tears, I passed it on to a friend who came to faith in an indwelling God through Niequist's words. What a lovely life moment! Thanks for sharing.
Ahhh!!! I am a huge Shauna Niequist fan! I just loved her book (of course!) and have seen her speak two times... each time my head and heart scream - yes! Love #1, 5, 8 & 10! Fun post!
Great list! I love all the photos — really fun.
Beautiful photos and presentation. Love the table, love the stripey tops, love the great cookware...super fun list!
Me too!!!! An undying classic.
I really enjoyed your list of happiness! I can totally understand why you wore those adorable green boots so frequently!
Anne Lamott is one of my favorite authors! Her spiritual journeys have been very precious and powerful reads for me too.
I am right there with you on Vueve Clicquot - love it! The dining room table is beautiful. What do cook in the tomato shaped Le Creuset?
