Brussels flower carpet

Every two years in August, for just a few days, a carpet of begonias is laid in front of the Grand Palace in Brussels for all to behold.  Each time the design is different but apparently, all are spectacular.  This amazing undertaking is created by over a hundred skilled gardeners completing what may amount to the world's most beautiful jigsaw puzzle, and they do it all in under four hours.  The blooms are packed in tight, more than three hundred flowers are packed into a square meter to prevent any wind damage.  The blooms are arranged directly on the cobblestone and no soil is used.  I could plan a trip to Brussels around this alone.

In this bottom photo you can see the gardeners arranging the blooms.  Wow.

Beautiful... intricate patterns and designs. They almost look real as any oriental carpet.
