doors

Lest you think that I am so narrow minded as to only care about windows, let me quickly correct you. No, no. I love doors as well. High gloss black doors. Brightly colored, show-stopper doors. Dutch doors, glass doors, French doors, big old wood doors. I truly believe that you can change the entire look of and feel of your home by replacing your front door. Or just slapping some fantastic color on it. I'm apparently partial to red and turquoise.

oh i love doors too....all the red doors caught my eyes & i adore the yellow doors too. great post. Dayle
What a fabulous collection of windows and doors! A great door (in any shape or colour) is an important part of coming home, or when you're welcoming guests.
We had some sleepless nights when the fire department (after a routine check) said that our apartment front door had to be changed because of regulations. And the insurance company requested a lock exchange. Modern standards sometimes don't make it easy to preserve the old....
Luckily enough, all ended well and we could keep our original wooden door, with glass windows and wrought iron and all. Still enjoy it every time I come home.
Emily,
Your last asterix made me curious. Did you go to design school? If you did, it certainly doesn't surprise me. I think that is why I enjoy following your blog so much. Most of my background is in the arts, but I received my Masters in Architecture at the University of Utah. Now that I'm a practicing architect, much of my practice focuses on sustainable design. I also lead the interior design department for our firm. So many of your posts on art, fashion, design, architecture, and interiors are fun to follow. Since I have designed a number of libraries, I also really like your second to the last photo. Thanks for sharing.
I smiled through this whole post. And it just kept going and going!
