lace floors

Remember when I went ga-ga over these lace floors?  I went ahead and bought the stencil and it has proved to be the perfect project to keep Sean busy while we are out of town.  Talk about a win/win/win situation.  (Well, for me at least.)

He is only about a quarter of the way done and these pictures were taken on his phone so they are pretty grainy - but you get the gist.  I am just so thrilled with how they are turning out.

I'll take some better photos once I get home.  Speaking of which - I am looking into getting a new SLR camera.  If you have any strong opinions for or against a camera - I would love to hear.   Thanks!

Royal Design Studio: Part Deux

Would you take a look at this staircase?  I clearly have a deep love for excellent staircases but this one may take the cake.  Love seems like such a shallow word to use here.   It is, of course, by Melanie of Royal Design Studio.

I know that I have already posted (twice!) about Royal Designs Studio's stencils but how the heck did I miss that they have a whole section devoted to Morocco? Do you now see the necessity of my posting again?  We are trying to choose one of these patterns for our back patio but have not as of yet because we LOVE THEM ALL.

Moroccan lantern pattern

We only lived in Morocco for a little over a year and a half but I miss it like crazy.  It doesn't help that Moroccan inspired interiors are everywhere I look.  It does thrill me though that others see & appreciate all the beauty that Morocco has to offer. I never tire of this simple Moorish motif that seems to evoke all of the complexities of North Africa.   I am especially loving this exaggerated take on the pattern:

here it is in tile, stencil & rug:

wine crate floors

Loving these floors I saw over at Remodelista.  Seeing as I love fonts, fruit, floors & wine - it was bound to be love.  The German flooring company Parador created these floors based on ones found in old European wine cellars.  They often used the wood from their discarded wine & fruit crates.  I prefer the old, authentic method but will have to up my fruit and/or wine consumption considerably to get enough materials for the job.

Royal Design Studio

Royal Design Studio is the company from which that fantastic lace stencil was commissioned.  Here are a few more designs that caught my eye, from their "allover pattern" collection:

lace floors. swoon.

Today, two of my great loves collided: Morocco and painted floors.  Earlier in the day I happened upon a blog entitled My Marrakesh.   Intrigued, but with no time to explore, I bookmarked the site for later on.  Then last night I received a comment from Lissy under my "painted floors" post, recommending I take a look at some floors on another blog.  Yep, it was My Marrakesh.  Taking this as a sign, I rushed back and lo & behold, there they were - painted floor perfection.  This particular lace stencil was custom made for Maryam's guesthouse in Marrakesh: Peacock Pavilions.  Sean & I have already begun conspiring as to when & how to make something like these happen in our home.

chevron & herringbone floors

Now, as is the case with both chevron & herringbone patterns - I love them in a multitude of capacities.  As I have stated before, I have hardly met a herringbone I didn't like.  But there is something about floors like these that make me weak in the knees.

See?  Even writing about it is poetry.

painted floors

I adore the look of painted floors.  So much so that I would happily cover perfectly nice wood floors just to get to walk upon any of these beauties.

wowza.

In my previous post I showed some images from the flooring company LV Wood Floors, perhaps my new favorite flooring company. As I was scrolling through their products, I came across these babies. Have you ever seen anything like this? They are solid plank white oak floors stained in all these crazy colors. This would be a super fun option in the right spot.

bleached oak - floor love

You know when you see a photograph and your heart fills up with admiration and says "yes! yes! yes!"? OK, it may just be me - but that was my response to these floors. I love them.
