wine crate floors

Loving these floors I saw over at Remodelista.  Seeing as I love fonts, fruit, floors & wine - it was bound to be love.  The German flooring company Parador created these floors based on ones found in old European wine cellars.  They often used the wood from their discarded wine & fruit crates.  I prefer the old, authentic method but will have to up my fruit and/or wine consumption considerably to get enough materials for the job.

so beautiful. I love all things salvage, authentic salvage of course, but ya, consuming fruit and wine by the crateful may be a challenge.

FYI, you can go to any booze store and pick up wine crates, usually for free or at most for a few dollars. They just throw them away, like with pallets, even though it is good and beautiful wood. Another awesome wine box idea: http://r3project-english.blogspot.com/2009/05/kitchen-cupboards-made-from-recycled.html
